Technology
ORBAI is developing a new, innovative suite of neural network technologies and tools that will enable more advanced AI applications, with enhanced vision, conversational speech, human-like cognition, and planning and interaction with the real world, learning without supervision. It will find first use in smart devices, homes, and robotics, then in online professional services.
To build AI that is superior to today's deep learning, we need better neural networks, with more powerful processing in both space and time, and the ability to form complex circuits with them, including feedback. We use spiking neural networks, which have signals that travel between neurons in time, gated by synapses. We design, evolve, and train these spiking neural nets in a tool called NeuroCAD.
NeuroCAD is a patented software tool (US Patent 16/437,838), with a UI for designing Spiking Neural Networks that forms the foundation for ORBAI's AGI technology. The methods in the patent solve the greatest obstacle to date in using Gen 3 SNNs that have previously prevented their widespread adoption - training them to do useful functions, as standard backpropagation techniques used in deep learning do not work with SNNs. The ORBAI patent implements training of the synapses in the network using a SNN autoencoder with a feedback loop tuned by genetic algorithms.
These neural network technologies and tools will enable more advanced AI applications, with enhanced vision, conversational speech, human-like cognition, and planning and interaction with the real world, learning without supervision. It will find first use in smart devices, homes, and robotics, then in online professional services.
